Christopher Michael Vickery was a consultant general surgeon in west Cornwall. He studied medicine at St Bartholomew's Medical School and qualified in 1953. He gained his FRCS in 1959. He went to the United States and was a surgical research fellow at Harvard University Medical School and an assistant in surgery at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. He became a tutor in surgery at Bristol University and a senior surgical registrar to the United Bristol Hospitals. Moving to Truro, he was appointed as a consultant surgeon to the West Cornwall Clinical Area. He wrote papers on vascular surgical topics and was a member of the Vascular Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Christopher Michael Vickery died on 10 December 2003 aged 73. He was survived by his widow Betty and children, Judy, Jane, Chris and Neil, and three grandchildren.
