Details:
The son of Captain James Keith Forbes, an officer in the service of the HEIC. He was grandson of John Forbes, of Blashford, Aberdeenshire, and a grandnephew of the well-known Dr George Gregory, Physician to the Small-pox and Vaccination Hospital, London. He was apprenticcd to William Maclntyre, of 84 Harley Street, whose eldest daughter he married. He completed his professional training at the Middlesex Hospital, of which he was House Surgeon, and at University College. From 1844-1879 he conducted a large practice at 82 Oxford Terrace, Paddington, and retired to Egerton, Kent, whence in 1888 he moved to Bromley. For many years he took an active interest in the Society for the Relief of the Widows and Orphans of Medical Men, and was one of its Vice-Presidents. His death occurred somewhat suddenly on March 19th, 1890. His portrait is in the Fellows' Album, and his Bromley residence was Ellerslie, Widmore Road.
