Details:
Born on February 16th, 1838, and was educated at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He entered the Army Medical Service as Staff Assistant Surgeon on September 30th, 1863. He joined the 72nd Regiment of Foot on September 20th, 1864, the Staff on June 9th, 1865, and the Royal Regiment of Artillery on September 4th, 1867. He was promoted Surgeon (Army Medical Department) on September 30th, 1873; Surgeon Major on April 28th, 1876; and Brigade Surgeon, being gazetted Brigade Surgeon Lieutenant-Colonel, on September 4th, 1888. He was placed on retired pay on February 16th, 1893, but was re-employed when on the Retired List, becoming Lieutenant-Colonel on September 30th, 1883, under a *London Gazette* notification of August 9th, 1898. He saw active service in the Abyssinia Campaign of 1867-1868. After residing at Bournemouth he settled at Stonehouse, Rose Hill, Dorking, and died on Sunday, February 17th, 1924.
