Studied at Guy's, St Thomas's, and King's College Hospitals. He practised at Redruth, Cornwall, living at Trengweath Place and at Clarence Cottage, Porthtowan, Illogan. He was Surgeon to the Mines; Medical Officer to the Redruth Union Workhouse; Medical Officer to Gwennap and Stithians Districts; Public Vaccinator; Medical Assurance Referee; Certifying Factory Surgeon; and Medical Inspector of Army Recruits. As Surgeon to the Mines he presented a report to the Houses of Parliament on the "Sanitary State of Redruth". He was a member of the General Council of St Andrews University. After long confinement to his room, he died on Dec 21st, 1895, being then the oldest practitioner in Cornwall.
