Educated at St George's Hospital and the University of Glasgow. At St George's he was entered as a twelve-months pupil of Robert Keate (qv) on Oct 3rd, 1821. He became a Surgeon in the Royal Navy, his warrant being dated Dec 23th, 1827, and served on board HMS Ringdove in 1829 and HMS Drina in 1834. In 1849 he was still on the Active List, but in 1861 he was in practice at Exeter. He died at Red Hill, Surrey, on Dec 3rd, 1874.
