Details:
Studied at Westminster Hospital, where he gained the Chadwick and Bird Prizes and then acted as House Physician, Obstetric Assistant, and Chloroformist. He was afterwards Resident Medical Officer at Queen Charlotte's Hospital. He entered the IMS on March 31st, 1883, was promoted Surgeon Major on March 31st, 1895, Lieutenant-Colonel on March 31st, 1903, and retired on April 25th, 1911. He saw service in 1884 on the Zhob Valley Expedition, North-West Frontier, being present at the affair of Danlatzai, and he received the Frontier Medal with Clasps; in 1885-1886 he served in the Third Burmese War; otherwise he was mostly in civil employ in Bombay. In 1888-1889 he was acting Port Health Officer; in 1890-1892 Civil Surgeon of Kaira. In 1893 he was appointed Surgeon to the Jamsetji Jijibhai Hospital, Bombay, and Professor of Anatomy and Curator of the Museum at the Grant Medical College. In November, 1903, he became Professor of Surgery and the first Surgeon at the Hospital. He died in a Nursing Home at Reigate on January 20th, 1918.
