Details:
Ian Alexander Mackie was an associate specialist in the external eye diseases clinic at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, and at St George's Hospital. He studied medicine at Aberdeen, qualifying in 1954, and held house posts in the city, at Woodend General Hospital and the Royal Infirmary. He gained his diploma in ophthalmology in 1958. He was a member and ex-president of the Medical Contact Lens Association. He was the author of *Medical contact lens practice: a systematic approach* (Oxford, Butterworth-Heinemann, 1993). He died on 8 September 2012.
