Details:
Thomas Gordon Evans Loosemore was born in Caerphilly on 23 June 1918. He was educated at Plymouth College, St John's College, Cambridge, and St Bartholomew's Hospital. He graduated MB BCh in 1943 and MA in 1943. He obtained the MRCS, LRCP in 1943, the FRCS in 1948 and the MCh in 1951. During the second world war he served with an airborne field ambulance attached to a parachute regiment with the rank of Captain. On discharge from the service he was appointed surgeon at the Royal Northern Hospital where he was much influenced by McNeil Love and became registrar at the Royal Cancer Hospital. He was senior registrar at St James, Balham, with Norman Tanner which gave him a special interest in gastroenterology. He became consultant surgeon to the Peace Memorial and Shrodells Hospitals in Watford and the Bushey and District Hospital. His main hobbies were photography and sports cars. In 1951 he married Mary Michel Thompson and they had one daughter and a son who is a doctor. He died in Watford on 29 March 1976, aged 57 years.
