Details:
Maurice Hershman received his medical education at St Bartholomew's Hospital and qualified MB BS with honours in 1941, obtaining the conjoint diploma in the same year. After qualification he was surgical registrar at the Postgraduate Medical School, London, assistant principal surgical officer at Croydon General Hospital and senior surgical registrar at Wordsley Hospital, before becoming consultant surgeon at the Dudley, Stourbridge and District Hospital Group. He was the author of papers on spontaneous pneumoperitoneum, on torsion of the Fallopian tube and dysgerminoma of the ovary. He died in September 1994 at his home in Stourbridge and was survived by his son M J Hershman, MSc, MS, FRCS.
