Details:
Born in Bengal, Nripendra Nandi qualified from the National Medical School of Calcutta in 1959 and after junior posts did postgraduate work in Delhi, where he obtained the MS. He came to England and studied for the FRCS, working for a time as a locum consultant surgeon in Ards Hospital, Newtownards, Northern Ireland between 1970 and 1974, where he married Maureen, née McDonald. They emigrated to the United States in 1974 where Nandi became a staff surgeon at Redford Community Hospital and Riverview Hospital in Detroit. He was fatally injured in a car accident in Michigan on 30 September 1995. He was survived by his wife, and son Neil.
