Dhunjishah Sethna was born on 8 April 1912 at Syriam, Burma, the son of Shapoorj Sethna, an engineer, and his wife Bachoobai Rustomji, née Massani. He was educated at the Diocesan School, Rangoon, at St Xavier's School and College, Bombay, and at Grant Medical College, Bombay, where he qualified MB BS in 1936. He gained the Bombay MS with distinction in 1944. After junior appointments in hospitals in Bombay and Dharampore he came to Britain and gained the Fellowship in 1965. Thereafter he practised at Darlington, County Durham.
Outside medicine, Sethna enjoyed tennis and swimming. In 1944 he married Rodabe Master, and they had a son and a daughter. He died on 4 August 1994, survived by his wife and children.
