Jeffrey George Watson was a senior consultant urologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, Queensland. Born in Brisbane on 17 September 1924, he was the fourth child and third son of John Andrew Watson, an insurance manager, and his wife Minna Pauline née Maurice. After attending a Church of England Grammar School, he trained at the University of Queensland Medical School and won the BMA clinical prize on graduation. He came to the UK after house jobs at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and worked at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Rhyl, North Wales and St Peter’s Hospital in London, passing the fellowship of the college in 1953. Before returning to Australia he spent time in the USA at the University of Michigan Hospital and acquired the FACS in 1958. Back in Brisbane he rejoined the staff of the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Eventually he became president of the Urological Association of Australia, serving from 1971 to 1972. In 1955 he married Margaret Mary Chew and they had two sons and a daughter. Outside medicine he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He died on 10 March 2010, aged 85.
