Became a Surgeon in the Royal Navy (Royal Marines), and for upwards of fifty years was Inspector of Fleets and Hospitals. In 1843 his address was at the Marine Barracks, Woolwich. He seems afterwards to have practised as a physician at Woolwich, and latterly to have resided at Cawsand, Cornwall. He died at Woolwich on March 24th, 1849. In his brief obituary in the *Medical Directory* (1850, 469) he is described as “of Cawsand, in Cornwall”. *The Death Book* of the Royal College of Surgeons (vol. i) refers to him as of “the Royal Marines, Woolwich”.
