Details
Born at Ipswich and became a student at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals. After qualifying he settled in his native town, where he was first elected to the Dispensary, and in 1825 appointed Surgeon to the Gaol. He had an important share in the establishment of the East Suffolk Hospital and headed the poll at the election of surgeons in 1836. He served on the active staff of the hospital for forty years and then became Consulting Surgeon. He died in his house at Ipswich in 1887.
