Details
Born on May 3rd, 1805, the eldest son of S Cowper Brown, surgeon, of Lewisham. He was apprenticed at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1821, and was educated at the Borough Hospitals of Guy’s and St Thomas’s, where he was a Dresser to Sir Astley Cooper, and a favourite Clinical Clerk to Dr Bright. In 1828 he joined his father in practice at Lewisham. He retired about 1870, and died on April 21st, 1872. He operated with skill and neatness. He was very hospitable, and always a welcome visitor to the United Hospitals’ Club, of which he was for some years a member.
