Details
Educated at Westminster Hospital, where he was Demonstrator of Anatomy. He practised in partnership with Franklin Hewitt Oliver, LRCP at 2 Kingsland Road, NE, and his other address was Delamers, Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex. He was at one time Member of the Board of Examiners for Midwives, Surgeon to the 'G' Division of the Metropolitan Police, for fifteen years Surgeon-Accoucheur to the City of London Lying-in Hospital, and for twelve years Surgeon to the Royal Maternity Charity. He was Librarian, Orator in 1878, and President of the Hunterian Society in 1881, and was a Fellow of the Obstetrical Society. He died at Bradwell on July 5th, 1892. Publications: "A Brief Sketch of the Ancient History of Medicine," etc., being his Oration before the Hunterian Society, 1878. "On Polypus in the Uterus."-*Lancet*, 1840-1, i, 551. "Use of Chloroform in a Case of Difficult Parturition."-*Ibid*., 1848, i, 96. "Case of Strangulated Femoral Hernia treated Successfully by Mr. Gay's Operation." -*Med. Times*, 1849, xix, 307.
