Details
Educated at University College Hospital, where he held the appointments of House Surgeon, House Physician, Junior and Senior Obstetrician's Assistant, Ophthalmic Assistant, and Junior Demonstrator in Anatomy. In 1896-1897 he was Surgeon on the Royal Mail Steamer *Damara*, then served as a Medical Officer in the Niger Soudan Campaign, and received a medal for his services. In the following year he was special Plague Medical Officer under the Government of India. Castellote had a home address at 45 Salcott Road, Wandsworth Common. It is noted in the *Medical Directory* of 1900 that he was Medical Officer to the Mohun Expedition to Central Africa under the Belgian Government. In the Obituary of the *Medical Directory* 1901 it is recorded that Castellote died in Central Africa on September 26th, 1899, aged 29. Publications: "Notes on the Niger-Soudan Campaign of 1898-97."*-Lancet*, 1898, i, 455, 595, and Editorial Annotation, 588.
