Details
Educated at Guy's and St Thomas's Hospitals. He was at one period Resident Surgeon on the Seamen's Hospital Ship *Dreadnought*, and then practised at Exeter, where he was in 1848 the first Surgeon-Apothecary (House Surgeon) to the Devon and Exeter Hospital. He petitioned soon after his appointment that he might be relieved of much of the book-keeping work to enable him to devote more time to professional work in the wards. He died at his residence, Southernhay Place, Exeter, on May 27th, 1888.
