Details
Practised in Canterbury, his birthplace. His practice was extensive, but he retired at the early age of 50 (1867), after being Surgeon, Vaccinator, and Officer of Health to the Canterbury Corporation, and Medical Officer and Vaccinator to three Districts of Bridge Union. He resided at 3 Bridge Street. He was Trustee of City Charities and Mayor of Canterbury in 1866 and 1875, and from 1874 to the time of his death was Chairman of the Commissioners of Income Tax. He was courteous but firm, of a generous disposition, and always ready to help in cases of genuine necessity. He died on March 13th, 1898, at Thanington House, Canterbury, and was buried in Thanington churchyard.
