Details
Peter John Anthony Griffin was a transplant surgeon at Cardiff Royal Infirmary. He was born on 19 July 1946 and studied medicine in Cardiff, gaining his MB BCh in 1970. He was a house surgeon at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, and a senior house officer in the accident department at Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. He then became a surgical registrar in Cardiff and was later a specialist there in transplant surgery. He was involved in the World Transplant Games Federation and, after his death on 31 May 2009 at the age of 62, the Peter Griffin award was introduced for the winning team of the men's swimming freestyle relay.
