Details
Lived in Cheltenham, where his practice was extensive, and throughout his whole career he deservedly retained the respect and love of a very large circle. He was appointed Surgeon to the Cheltenham General Hospital in 1825, and held the post for thirty years. Severe illness compelled him to withdraw from active life in 1856, when his friends and patients in the course of a few weeks subscribed between £1600 and £1700 as a testimonial to him. £1500 of this sum was invested in Bank Stock and settled on Mrs Fowler, the remainder being expended on silver plate. He died at Weston-super-Mare on May 4th or 11th, 1858.
