Details
Alfred Hamilton may have been one of seven children of Dr William Hamilton, Physician to the London Hospital, who practised in Old Broad Street and died in 1807. He was elected Assistant Surgeon to the London Hospital on April 7th, 1831, becoming full Surgeon on December 23rd, 1845. He practised at 1 Broad Street Buildings, London, BC, until 1850, when he went to Florence, where he died on September 10th, 1884. His biographer, Dr S D Clippingdale (*London Hospital Gazette*. 1918, Nov), could not gather further information as to his residence in Florence or his place of burial. His name does not appear in the list of persons buried in the Protestant Cemetery at Florence.
