Details
Born at Cheltenham, the son of the Rev Mr Hawkins (d1848), Head Master of the Cheltenham Grammar School (not Cheltenham College), where Hawkins was educated, studying afterwards at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He practised in Wellington Place, Cheltenham, succeeding in 1856 to the practice of Charles Fowler (qv), and for many years was Surgeon to the Cheltenham General Hospital. It was upon his suggestion that Miss Delaney made the gift out of which arose the Delaney Trust. Hawkins did not take part in public affairs. He died somewhat suddenly on October 17th, 1892.
