Details
Educated at St George's Hospital. He succeeded in 1815 to the practice of his father, long well known, at Margate. For many years he was the leading practitioner in the Isle of Thanet, and was intimately associated with sanitary improvements at Margate. He was JP and Alderman for the Cinque Ports, first Mayor of Margate, to which he was re-elected, and held office at the time of his death. He was also President and Trustee of the Margate Literary and Scientific Institute, Surgeon to the Royal Sea-Bathing Infirmary and of the Branch Establishment of the Deaf and Dumb Asylum, Margate; and Assistant Surgeon to the Cinque Ports Volunteer Artillery. He practised in partnership with Dr Thornton; died at Margate on November 2nd, 1866, and was buried there.
