Details
Born on October 28th, 1790, the son of James Jackson, St Martin's-in-the-Fields, Westminster. He entered the Bengal Army, IMS, as Assistant Surgeon on November 8th, 1813, was promoted Surgeon on July 14th, 1825, and Superintendent, Sirhiad Division, Bengal, on February 15th, 1845. He was on active service in the Nepal War, 1814-1815; in the Third Maratha, Pindari, or Dekkan War, 1817-1818; at the siege and capture of Hathras, 1817; and at the capture of Rangoon, Burmah, 1824-1825. He was one of the twenty-nine Indian Medical Service officers elected FRCS on August 26th, 1844. He retired on August 1st, 1853, and died at 3 Regent Street, Edinburgh, on March 30th, 1854.
