Details
Born on October 21st, 1782. He entered the Army on November 12th, 1805, as Surgeon's Mate on the hospital staff, not attached to a Regiment, and was gazetted Assistant Surgeon of the 95th Foot on November 21st, 1805. He was promoted Surgeon of the 40th Foot on September 3rd, 1812, and retired on half pay on May 10th, 1831. His war service was long and distinguished. In Buenos Ayres in 1807 he was a prisoner of war; from 1808-1814 he served in the Peninsular War; from 1814-1815 in the United States. He was present at the Battle of Waterloo. He died at Burton-on-Trent on August 8th, 1862, but appears to have lived at Glan Helen, Carnarvonshire.
