Details
The son of General R M Keatinge, VC, and grandson of the Right Honourable Richard Keatinge, Judge of the Irish Probate Court; was educated at Uppingham School and Guy's Hospital, graduating with honours at the University of Durham. He served in the Egyptian Army from 1884-1890, taking part in the Nile Campaign of 1885, and gained the Egyptian Medal with three Clasps, the Khedive's Bronze Star, and the Order of the Osmanieh (4th class). Appointed in 1884 to the Egyptian Government Medical School at Cairo and to the Kasrel-Aini Hospital, he became Director of both and was decorated CMG in 1913. He was mentioned in dispatches during the European War whilst head of the Kasr-el-Aini Hospital, and received the Order of the Medjidie (2nd class); and was given the Order of the Nile on his retirement in 1919. He died at Regent Road, Jersey, on June 21st, 1928.
