Details
The son of Thomas Martin (qv), surgeon, of Reigate. He entered the Bengal Army as Assistant Surgeon March 9th, 1839, was promoted Surgeon May 8th, 1853, and was at one time Professor of Ophthalmic Surgery at Calcutta Medical College. He died at 36 St Peter's Square, Hammersmith, on March 16th, 1879. Publication: "Returns of the Principal Operations on the Eye performed during the Years 1848, 1849, 1850, and 1851 in the Calcutta Eye Infirmary," 8vo, Calcutta, 1853; reprinted from *Indian Ann of Med Sci*, 1853-4, i, 32.
