Details
Born on November 10th, 1783; he studied at Edinburgh, and joined the Army as Surgeon's Mate unattached on March 24th, 1804, at St Vincent. He was gazetted Assistant Surgeon to the 46th Foot on September 10th, 1807, saw active service at Martinique in 1809, and at Guadeloupe in 1810; was promoted to Surgeon of the 3rd West Indian Regiment on Sept 26th, 1811, transferred to the 25th Foot on December 25th, 1812, and to the Staff in the West Indies on August 3rd, 1826. He retired on half pay on October 17th, 1834, lived in retirement at Ghent, and died among his relatives at Montrose in May, 1855.
