Details
Studied at University College Hospital and in 1841 settled in practice at Spalding, where he held the posts of Surgeon to the Spalding Dispensary, the Spalding Union Infirmary, the Johnson Hospital, and to the Railway. He was Local Secretary to the Royal Medical Benevolent College, on the Council of the British Medical Association, a Member of the Spalding School Board and an Improvement Commissioner, and Surgeon Major in the 2nd Volunteer Lincolnshire Regiment. In Spalding and throughout South Lincolnshire his commanding presence and genial face and manner were familiar during half a century. He retired owing to age in 1890, and died at Rickmansworth on October 10th, 1896.
