Was for fifty years the leading practitioner in Wirksworth and in the adjoining district of Derbyshire. He was highly cultivated, well read, and had wide experience. He had seen much and thought much, and his kindness of heart, cheerful disposition, and warmth of friendship endeared him to a wide circle. He died at Wirksworth after a very short illness on June 11th, 1860.
