Details
The son of Henry Ransom, Trinity Street, Cambridge; studied at University College, London, and then practised at Cambridge, where he was Medical Officer of Health and District Surgeon to the Railways. He served on the Town Council from November, 1858, to October, 1863, when he was appointed Surgeon to the Borough Police. From 1871 he was a member of the Board of Guardians; from 1865 an Improvement Commissioner for the parish of Holy Sepulchre; and for many years Medical Officer of the Castle End District. He lived at 5 Jesus Lane, Cambridge, and died suddenly on March 30th, 1874, to the deep regret of the poorer classes of the Castle End District of the Board of Guardians.
