Details
The son of the Rector of Hittesleigh, Devon. He received his early education from his father, and his professional training, first at the Devon and Exeter Hospital, and then at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He settled in London after qualifying and began practice as Resident Surgeon at the Children's Infirmary, Broad Street, Golden Square. Succeeding to a small practice in the neighbourhood, he was appointed Surgeon to the 'C' Division of the Metropolitan Police by Sir John Fisher, and also to HM Commissioners of Woods and Works Establishment and to the Constabulary of the Royal Parks. He died at his residence, 8 Charles Street, St James's, on June 29th, 1876.
