Details
Came of an old Radnorshire family and studied at St Thomas's Hospital, after which he entered the Indian Medical Service on February 2nd, 1852. He served with distinction in the Crimea, and was awarded the Medjidie Order (4th Class) and Medal. He served later in the Central Indian Campaign with the Bombay Indian Army, was mentioned in dispatches by General Sir Hugh Rose, and was awarded the Persian Medal and Clasp and the Central Indian Medal. He retired with the rank of Surgeon Major to The Castle, Builth, Breconshire, where he served as High Sheriff and JP for Breconshire and also for Radnorshire. He died on December 17th, 1884. Publications: *On the Genus of Insects, estrus, which forms the Bots in Horses, Cattle and Heads of Sheep*. *On the Gums and other Products found at Aden*.
