Details
Born at Norwich on April 24th, 1837, the son of J Meybohm Venning. He became a student at St George's Hospital, where he acted as House Surgeon and as Surgical Registrar. He was gazetted Assistant Surgeon to the 1st Life Guards on April 14th, 1863, and Surgeon on March 1st, 1873. He resigned on June 30th, 1877, and engaged in private practice at 87 Sloane Street, London, SW, where he had an extensive circle of distinguished patients. He was knighted in 1905. He retired to Lamorvah, Wood Lane Crescent, Falmouth, where he became an active member of the Hospital Committee, and died there on November 17th, 1920. He married in 1873 Miss F E Pearson, daughter of Captain Aylmer Pearson; she died about 1917. Publications:- Venning's publications related to venereal disease.
