Details
Studied at the University of Edinburgh and at University College Hospital, where he was a pupil of Robert Liston. He practised for some forty years at 4 Stanley Terrace, Kensington Park Gardens, where he was Surgeon to the Kensington Dispensary, and at one time Physician to the Soldiers' Daughters' Home at Hampstead. Waggett was described as a perfect specimen of the general practitioner of the nineteenth century, and he delighted in recounting his association with great men who flourished in the middle of that century. He retired about twenty-five years before his death and lived at Bournemouth, where at the, lose of a quiet and happy day spent in reading and talking with his daughters and friends, at the age of 91, he fell back in his armchair and died. He was survived by two sons, one a distinguished Cowley Father, the other a medical practitioner (a third son, successful as a barrister, predeceased his father); also by four daughters.
