Details
Studied and graduated at the University of Edinburgh, where he was House Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary and Demonstrator of Anatomy. Coming to London he took the MRCS and FRCS examinations together, and began practice as a consulting surgeon at 6 Harley Street. He was first appointed Assistant Surgeon to the West London Hospital with charge of the Aural Department. He was Assistant Surgeon to Charing Cross Hospital from 1888-1891, and to the Westminster Ophthalmic Hospital. He was a member of several societies and made an occasional contribution to medical journals. Possessed of private means, he early resigned hospital work and limited himself to ophthalmological private practice. He was an ardent mountaineer and a member of the Alpine Club. Latterly he resided at 104 Park Street, London, W, and frequently visited Pontresina. He was taken ill and died at Pontresina on August 29th, 1910, and was buried there.
