He settled in practice at Brentford, Middlesex, about 1860, was Surgeon to St Mary's Orphanage, North Hyde, and District Medical Officer to the Brentford Local Board from the commencement; later he was Medical Officer of Health for Brentford and Certifying Factory Surgeon. He took great interest in local matters bearing on hygiene. He practised at 101 High Street, and had a wide circle of patients and friends. On December 29th, 1887, he left home apparently in good health to visit a patient at Hammersmith; when the train reached Gunnersbury he was found to be very ill, and died soon afterwards, survived by his widow, three daughters, and a son.
