Details
The son of William Saunderson Wyman (qv), was born at 280 Upper Richmond Road, Putney, on April 26th, 1866. He entered Charterhouse School in Cricket Quarter 1879, left in 1883, and was admitted a pensioner at Trinity College, Cambridge, on June 16th, 1883. He graduated with 2nd class honours in the first part of the Natural Science Tripos in 1886 and completed his studies at St Thomas's Hospital, where he won the Solly Medal in 1890, and served both as House Surgeon and House Physician. Appointed Medical Officer to the Opium Commission with Lord Brassey as Chairman, he travelled all over India to collect information. He then joined his father in practice at Red Brae, 18 Putney Hill, London, SW, the firm being Wyman, White, & Wyman. His skill, geniality, and kindness had already endeared him to his patients, when, visiting an influenza patient suffering from pneumonia, he caught the infection and died on November 21st, 1897. Shortly before his death he had given a lecture, with Baron Pollock in the chair, on "India". The proceeds of his lecture, about £50, was sent to the India Famine Fund. Baron Pollock died on the same day as Wyman.
