Born at Guildford, where his father was in extensive medical practice. He went to Guildford Grammar School, and then studied at King's College Hospital. Later he was in partnership with his father, and succeeded to the practice. In 1867 he was elected Coroner for the Borough of Guildford, and held that post until 1879, when he was appointed Justice of the Peace. He was Surgeon to the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Trustee of Stoke Hospital, and for a time Brigade Surgeon to the Rifle Volunteers. He lived latterly in retirement, and died at Somerset House, Guildford, on December 5th, 1891, a much respected, genial, hospitable man.
