Details
Studied at University College, London, and practised at 1 St John's Wood Grove, Grove Road, about 1855; at 42 Grove Road; next at 22 North Bank, Regent's Park ; and finally at 21 Alma Square, Abbey Road, London, NW, where he died on December 24th, 1903. He was for many years Assistant Surgeon to the 1st Middlesex Rifle Volunteers, Medical Referee to the Waterloo Life Assurance Society and to the Prudential Society, also Medical Officer to St Cyprian's Home for Invalid and Incurable Females. He also served as a Vice-President and then as President of the Harveian Society, and read papers there on "Epidemic Diarrhea" in 1857, on "Traumatic Phlebitis of the Femoral Vein" in 1860, on "Diagnosis of Emboli in the Great Vessels of the Heart" in 1865, and other papers. He also described a lancet projected by a spring which he termed 'leech-bite lancet', viz, a triradiate-ended trocar protruded by a spring.
