Details
Born 2 June 1894 the fifth child and second son of Theodor Kittel, coal and iron exporter, and his wife née Slater, he was educated at Oundle, the Royal School of Mines, and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he took third-class honours in the Natural Sciences Tripos part I in 1918. He qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1919, and served as house surgeon and extern midwifery assistant. He was clinical assistant at the Queen's Hospital for Sick Children, at St Peter's Hospital for Stone and St Mark's Hospital for Diseases of the Rectum, and senior medical officer at the Metropolitan Hospital. He took the Fellowship in 1926, and was appointed assistant surgical officer at the Royal Northern Hospital. Kittel practised at first at 10 Chandos Street, Cavendish Square, and latterly at 44 Queen Anne Street. He married in 1946 Mrs O'Doherty, née Clinch, who survived him, but without children. He died at Hungerford on 7 September 1952, aged 58. Publications; Twisted ovarian tumour complicating acute peritonitis in a girl aged eight. *StBart's Hosp J* 1919, 27, 24.
