John Blake was a consultant surgeon at Mayday and Shirley Oaks hospitals, Croydon, and St Anthony's Hospital in Cheam. He was born on 7 February 1932. He was educated at Cambridge University and Westminster Hospital Medical School. He was a house surgeon at St James' Hospital, Balham, and then became a resident surgical officer at Woolwich Memorial Hospital. He was a surgical registrar at Westminster Hospital and in Southampton, and was subsequently appointed to his consultant post in Croydon. He was a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons. He was married to Helena, a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists. John Blake died on 2 November 2013. He was 81.
