Ian Alexander MacIsaac was a gynaecological surgeon and a founding consultant at Mercy Hospital for Children in Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia. He was born on 17 June 1932. His father was Angus MacIsaac; his mother was Agnes MacIsaac née Thomson. In 1960 he sailed to England from Australia. He gained his membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and his FRCS in 1962. He trained at Queen Charlotte's Hospital and the Chelsea Hospital, before completing an obstetrician and gynaecologist registrar position in Middlesbrough. In 1965 he returned to Melbourne. He married Ruth. They had five sons, Andrew, Richard, David, Robert and Christopher, and 18 grandchildren. Three of his sons followed him into medicine. Ian Alexander MacIsaac died on 20 June 2014. He was 82.
