Peter Alan Dupont was a consultant surgeon at Flinders Medical Centre, South Australia. He was born in 1938 in France and lived as a child in West Africa. When he was a small boy his mother died and he returned to family in the UK. He completed his education in Colchester before entering St Mary's Hospital Medical School. He gained his MRCS LRCP in 1963. He held house posts at St Mary's and King Edward's hospitals, and then trained in general surgery, gaining his FRCS in 1969. He remained at St Mary's for his higher surgical training. In 1977 he moved to Australia. He became an FRACS in 1978. He was a senior registrar at Flinders Medical Centre before being appointed as a consultant. Peter Alan Dupont died on 22 September 2014. He was 75. He was survived by his two children and grandchildren.
