Details
Bert Wilfred Buttsworth was born in 1904. He was particularly interested in orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology. In the early 1950's he was instrumental in convincing the Federal Government that there should be a full medical course at the University of Australia. He was President of the Western Australia branch of the Australian Medical Association in 1955-1956. Buttsworth had a deep sense of civic responsibility and was an organiser and instructor with the St John Ambulance Brigade. After the second world war he became Governor of Rotary district 245 when the district encompassed the whole of Western Australia. He was married with two sons and two daughters. He died in 1978 having practised for thirty years in the Midland area of Western Australia.
