Details
Bruce Campbell Hardy was born in Toronto and graduated in medicine from the University of Toronto in 1935. He did postgraduate work in England and was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1939. He was also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. During the second world war he served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps with the eventual rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He was chief surgeon and commanding officer of several Canadian service hospitals in Britain, France and Belgium. On his return to Toronto he entered private surgical practice and was appointed to the staffs of the Toronto General and the Toronto Western Hospitals. In 1954 he joined the staff of the Scarborough General Hospital. He died in Scarborough, Ontario, on 3 July 1973, survived by his wife, June and his daughter.
