Details
Thomas Pirotta qualified MB BS from Adelaide in 1955. He was appointed resident medical officer to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1956. On coming to England he worked as a senior house officer at the Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1960 and was appointed registrar to the orthopaedic and traumatological units of the West Middlesex Hospital, London, in 1961. During this time he passed both the FRCS and the FRCS Ed. Returning to Australia he became surgical clinical assistant to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, 1962-9. In 1969 he was appointed surgical fellow to the Footscray and District Hospital, Melbourne. He was a member of the AMA and was divisional surgeon to the St John Ambulance Brigade from 1964. He is thought to have died in the 1970s.
