After qualifying MB BS at the University of Adelaide, Peter Christopher Manessis held a number of posts at the Royal Perth Hospital, Perth, Western Australia, ending as a surgical registrar 1966-67. He moved in 1968 to a similar post at the Repatriation General Hospital, Heidelberg, and in 1969 at the Austin Hospital, Melbourne. Coming to the United Kingdom, he obtained the Fellowship of both the English and the Edinburgh Colleges, and spent some time as a registrar at the Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham. Returning to Australia in 1971 he became senior surgical registrar at Fremantle Hospital, Western Australia, and remained there till the end of his life as consultant surgeon. He died after a short illness on 4 August 1985, survived by his wife, Josephine.
