Details
Educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and St Thomas's Hospital, William George Quincey Mills qualified with the Conjoint Diploma in 1934 and later obtained the MB, BCh at Cambridge and became a Fellow of the College in 1936. After junior posts at St Thomas's Hospital and the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, he became surgical registrar in the clinical urology department at St Thomas's. In the second world war he served in the RAMC, becoming OC surgical division with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. From 1953 to 1975 he was consultant surgeon at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Bournemouth. During his career he published a number of papers on chronic urinary retention. He died on 25 June 1988, survived by his son, Patrick, and two daughters, Janet and Rosemary, his wife Katharine had died before him.
